I’m back with 13 more Disney World tips to help you rock your next Disney Vacation!

ICYMI, a couple of weeks ago, I posted my first thirteen tips for a successful Disney World Vacation. I planned to share all 26 tips in one post, but it turned out I had a lot to say and it seemed best to split these posts into two.

So without further ado, here are my next thirteen tips to help you make the most of your Disney trip!

1) Use the My Disney Experience App

The My Disney Experience app makes coordinating your trip so much easier!

You can link your Disney account (and magic bands) to anyone traveling in your group, that way you can book dining reservations and FastPasses for everyone and ensure you end up booked for the same times.

The app also has ride wait times, show times, and other important park info. You can also link your room reservation, park tickets, and dining plan together for easy access. And you can add events to your itinerary and get a reminder when the event is about to start.

The app will also help you check into your Disney World resort (so you can skip the front desk) and use mobile ordering.

For more, check out this post on how to use the My Disney Experience App.

2) Use Mobile Ordering

And speaking of mobile ordering, use it if you can! A lot of Disney food locations have a mobile ordering option.

This means if your Disney account has a credit card on file, or if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan, you can place your food order on the app and go right to the designated mobile ordering pick up window and get your food!

This option is particularly helpful if the restaurant you want to eat at is crowded. Mobile ordering is a great way to skip the line and get your food ASAP so you can get back to having fun in the park.

3) Start walking a lot before you go

Disney World is A LOT of walking. It helps if you start walking before you go. If you can, try to build up to walking five to ten miles in a day. You may walk more or less than this in Disney, but this is said to be the average window.

4) Tell Disney if you’re celebrating!

Disney likes to make your celebrations special, so let them know if you’re celebrating something! They have special buttons you can get if it’s your birthday, honeymoon, first visit, or general celebration.

You can pick up these buttons at your resort, guest relations in the park, or at merchandise locations.

Wearing these buttons often means some extra Disney magic is headed your way. This can be in the form of a free dessert at dinner or other special treatment from cast members.

5) Search for Hidden Mickeys

There are Mickeys hidden all over Walt Disney World. They’re often in the form of Mickey’s iconic head profile tucked into ride and building design. This is a great game to play with kids if you’re taking a break or waiting in line.

6) Be prepared for rain and weather

It rains in Florida a lot! Bring ponchos and other rain gear. You also might want to think about throwing extra socks and light (but comfortable) shoes in your bag. Popup downpours that soak your feed do happen, especially in the spring and summer.

Footwear often gets overlooked when preparing for weather, and trust me when I say, walking around a park in soaking wet socks and sneakers is the worst (and yes, I’m totally speaking from experience).

And of course, don’t forget the heat and sun in the summer time and layers for the cooler winter time. Florida may be warmer than most of the US in the winter, but it can still get chilly.

7) Use gift cards for purchases

If you’re looking to keep yourself from overspending, consider putting your spending money on gift cards before you go. It’s an easy way to keep yourself on a budget.

It’s also a great way to set a budget for kids!

Side note: I haven’t done this personally, but I’ve hard if you have a Target credit card, you can buy Disney gift cards with your Target card and save 5%.

8) Disney photographers can take your picture with your camera

If you want someone to take a picture of you and your family you can ask a Disney photographer! They will take a picture with your phone or camera!

The perk of this is that you’ll have a professional photographer taking your picture in a location that has been optimized for awesome photos.

The Disney photographer will likely take a few pictures with their camera first, but you’re not obligated to buy a photo just because they’ve taken it.

9) Use the First Aid Stations

Every park has a First Aid station staffed with medical professionals, bandages, and over the counter medication. If you’re not feeling good, don’t be afraid to pay them a visit!

You can also stop by if you need a single dose of over the counter medication (like Advil) or a bandaid. This way you don’t have to purchase and (overpriced) over the counter medication at a merchandise location for just one use.

10) Wear comfortable shoes (and break them in ahead of time)

Like we’ve covered, Disney World is a lot of walking, which is why you want to make sure you’re wearing comfortable shoes. Flipflops may keep your feet cool, but they don’t provide much support. Go for good sneakers, or supportive, strapped in sandals.

Additionally, may sure your shoes are broken in before you go. If you don’t, you’re more likely to get blisters (that you will then have to walk on for the rest of your trip).

11) Look at all the showtimes ahead of time

Disney has a lot of great shows, parades, and timed events. The timing of these events can often change from day to day. Know what’s being offered and what you want to see before your trip, then double check times as the trip gets closer.

You can usually access to showtimes anywhere from a few weeks out to a few months out, but always double check the morning of your park day to make sure nothing’s changed.

12) You can bring your own food!

Disney has amazing food, but it can be pricey. If you’re looking to save money, this is a good place to turn to. You can bring your own snacks, sandwiches, beverages, and other food that doesn’t need to be heated, into the parks.

However it’s worth noting that you can’t bring in alcoholic beverages or glass containers, so plan accordingly.

13) Don’t forget to keep your phone charged!

Between the Disney app, pictures, and keeping track of the members of your group, your phone battery is likely to get a workout! Which is why it’s important to keep it charged.

Disney has changing stations and outlets throughout the park you can take advantage of, however, you also might want to think about bringing your own battery powered charging rod in case you need a little juice on the go.

You can also purchase a charging rod in the park for $30 (at the time of writing this). You can grab a charging rod at one of several machines stations throughout the park.

The perk of this option is that once you purchase a charging rod, you can exchange a used charging rod for a fully charged one for free at any machine, so you never have to worry about being out of power. This might be a good option if you’re someone with truly terrible battery life.
