There’s a ton to do in Disney World’s Epcot. This is plenty true even with all of the construction going on at the time of writing this.
And given there’s so much to choose from, I thought I’d spend some time talking about my favorite rides in the park.
I should add a disclaimer that I’m not big on thrill rides. So if you are, you may want to consider checking out Mission: SPACE and Test Track.
The rough wait times are based on my experiences and general observations (it’s possible I check wait times for fun even when I’m not in the park). Your experience may vary based on crowds and attractions.
With that in mind, here are my top five favorite rides and dining experiences in Epcot.
Frozen Ever After
This is one of Epcot’s newer attractions, inspired by the hit movie. You can find it in the Norway Pavillion.
Guests get the chance to visit Arendelle and enter a boat that takes you through the world of Frozen, complete with animatronics of your favorite characters.
There is a slight drop toward the end of this one. As someone who doesn’t like thrill rides, I was fine with it, but if your kids or someone in your party has no tolerance for that kind of thing, this ride may not be for them.
The drop may also cause you to get a little wet depending on where you’re seated in the boat.
Wait times are usually pretty long for this one, so it’s a good use of your first tier FastPass.
Soarin’ Around the World
This is one of Disney’s most innovative rides, and it’s located in the Land Pavillian.
This ride gives guests a hang gliding experience as if you really are soarin’ around the world.
Guests board by taking a seat on your hang glider and strapping in. You’re then raised into a dome-shaped screen and get the chance to experience what it’s like to soar around the world.
Your hang glider will move and shift to fit the landscape you’re flying over, and you’ll be treated to plenty of sensory details, like the smell of grass when you fly over an open field.
Wait times for this can be long, but there are usually a few points throughout the day where wait times dip.
This is also a first tier FastPass, so if you have to choose between this and Frozen, I would suggest going with Frozen, t hen start keeping an eye on wait times for Soarin’ about a week before your trip in the My Disney Experience App.
You may notice wait time patterns that you can take advantage of. (The last time I went, I noticed the wait time often dipped to twenty minutes around 3 PM, and we were able to get on easily at that time on our Epcot day).
Living with the Land
This is also located in the Land Pavillian, not too far from Soarin’.
You board a boat and are taken through Disney’s greenhouses where you get to see all the innovative ways Disney grows food. This ride is as relaxing as it is educational.
And a lot of the fresh food you eat in Epcot comes from these greenhouses, so you can visit them, then grab lunch and try them out for yourself.
Wait times for this can get long at times, but generally speaking, they’re not that bad. If you’ve got an extra FastPass, this would be a fine use for it.
But if you’d rather use your FastPasses elsewhere, you should be able to get on with little wait at several points throughout the day.
Spaceship Earth
Spaceship Earth is the most iconic ride in Epcot. The ride itself is literally the icon for the park.
As it stands now, guests gently journey through the landmark via continually loading cars and explore the history of communication.
The journey takes about fifteen minutes, which makes it a wonderful break later in the day.
However, this ride is slated to go down for refurbishment at some point in the near future.
While I’ll miss the comfort and familiarity of the classic version of the ride, there are aspects of it that are glaringly outdated, so I’m excited to see what the evolved version of the ride looks like when it reopens.
This ride tends to be busy early in the day (a lot of people hit it first thing as they enter the park), but often drastically slows later in the day.
So if you went to get on it early, you may want to use a FastPass for it. If you’re going later, you may be okay to use your FastPass on something else and just keep an eye on wait times.
Journey Into Imagination With Figment
This ride may not be on the top of everyone’s must-do list, but it’s definitely on mine.
This is largely because I LOVE Figment! And I know I’m not alone. He has a bit of a cult following.
You can find Journey Into Imagination with Figment in the Imagination Pavillian.
This ride is all about a celebration of imagination. As an imaginative and creative person, this one pulls me in hard.
Guests enter the Imagination Institute and board ride vehicles for a tour of the Institute, which is quickly commandeered by the Institute’s mascot, Figment the dragon.
Figment takes guests through each of the Institute’s labs, which covers all five senses and ties into the imagination.
I would say this ride is a lot of fun for kids, and anyone how has a special place in their heart for imagination and creation.
Wait times for this one are typically pretty low, so it likely isn’t worth a FastPass.
Coming Soon
This one is a bonus since it’s not actually open yet. But I’m pretty confident it’s going to be a fast favorite.
Opening in the Summer of 2020 is Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. It’s a trackless ride and it’s a big hit in Disneyland Paris.
You’ll be able to find this one in the France Pavillian. I’d imagine wait times are going to be pretty long, so you might want to think about grabbing a FastPass for this.
