Today, I’m going to tell you about the yoga program that changed my life.
I am not exaggerating. The program made getting healthy EASY and ENJOYABLE!!
I’ve been doing it religiously for going on three years now, and I will NEVER go back!
I’m going to tell you what the program is, how it’s structure, and how it changed my life.
Side note: This post was originally written about the Original Perfect Body Yoga Program, which closed to new enrollment in January 2020. However, I’ve also done the lastest version of the program, which is linked below, and I still love and stand by this program. These links are not affiliate links. I just really love this program.
The Program
What is it?
The Perfect Body Yoga Program from Bad Yogi is a home online yoga program that’s built on the belief that the “perfect” body is the healthiest version of the body you already have.
The program also aims to focus on health, strength, and flexibility, not size or weight. (No Scale Victories are totally a thing, and they are discussed and celebrated!)
The program also gives you these positive benefits without doing anything harsh or extreme.
Personally, I’d always shied away from diet and exercise programs in the past because they just seemed like too much. But the gentle and deliberate nature of this program was part of the reason I decided to give it a try.
I can only speak for my own experience, but the Perfect Body Yoga Program kept every promise it made. On top of that, I genuinely enjoyed doing it and I looked forward to every class.
The program is taught by original Bad Yogi, Erin Motz who is fun, real, and creates classes that are totally accessible to all skill levels.
How is it structured?
This is an eight-week program with five days of yoga classes scheduled each week. The schedule consists of twelve 30-40 minute yoga classes that are arranged in a way to help you increase your strength, flexibility, and endurance. It’ll also improve your posture, confidence,
The program also has eight meditations and mantras (one for each week) to help you gain a calm and positive mindset while you work on your physical goals.
The original program had a food guide. And it really was a guide–not a crazy restrictive diet.
This guide was full of easy, accessible changes you can make to your diet to get healthier without being miserable.
The new program gives you three free months of the healthy meal planning website CookSmarts, which also makes it really easy to eat healthy.
This program also comes with a private members-only Facebook group you can join. I’m not on facebook anymore, but when I was, I check in on this group regularly. The extra level of support from other people doing the program can go a long way in helping you reach your goals.
And one of the best things about this program is that it’s a one-time fee. Once you purchase it, you own it for life. I continued to see significant results through my first three times through the program, and then I was able to easily maintain my results by repeating the program for over two years.
However, if you’re concerned you may not like it, Bad Yogi does have a 30-day refund policy (you can find it in the FAQs at the bottom of the page), so you can rest assured, that if this program turns out not to be a good fit for you, you can get your money back.
How the Program Helped Me
It made me eat healthier
Before this program, I was never someone you could call healthy. I did yoga and some running, but it was never too intense. I also never paid that much attention to my diet and I carried extra fat. But I was okay with that.
Everyone I knew on a diet or exercise program was miserable because they “had” to exercise, couldn’t eat the food they enjoyed, or were hungry all the time.
The food guidelines this program has helped me eat better, still feel like I’ve eaten enough, and still enjoy cookies and mac and cheese from time to time. I just eat a lot less of the bad stuff, and I’m more intentional about it when I do.
These guidelines that helped me cut down on
The food guidelines made healthy changes easy to implement and easy to maintain nearly three years later.
It made me more active (and I liked it!)
Like I mentioned, I did yoga and some running, but I was never one to go to the gym. The yoga classes I did were all online and though they were great in the beginning, it became more of a challenge to grow my practice.
I often would do more restorative classes because I didn’t feel like working too hard, or I wouldn’t know what class I was in the mood for, and I’d take so long debating I either wouldn’t have time for a class or it would be a short one.
The fact that this program has five yoga classes a week scheduled and arranged for me meant I didn’t have to think about what class I was going to do. And the classes are designed to help you grow, so I didn’t have the opportunity to shy away from being challenged.
One of my favorite thing about all of Erin Motz’s classes is how accessible they are. Even the tougher classes feel challenging, but not impossible. So I always know I can do it, even on days I “don’t really feel like it.”
It made me stronger and more flexible
I saw my more definition in my muscles by the end of the first week. At some point my first or second time through the program (I can’t say for sure when) I found I can lightly jog up the steps at work without feeling out of breath like I used to. And the more I did the program, the more I was able to do the poses that I never thought I’d have the strength or flexibility to do.
I think one of the reasons this happens is because Erin gives plenty of modifications on how to adapt the more challenging poses, so this program can meet you where you’re at and help you grow from there. There’s never any shame in taking a less challenging option and because of that, it made it easier for me to get stronger and more flexible each time through the program.
(Pro tip: If you find yourself struggling with a pose and there isn’t a modification mentioned, you can ask the Facebook group. Odds are, Erin, a Bad Yogi Community Manager, or another Bad Yogi will be able to hook you up!)
It made me calmer
I started this program at a time in my life where I was really excited all the time. It was justified–exciting things were happening–but it got to the point where I wasn’t sleeping right because I was so amped up all the time.
This excitement soon gave way to
In fact,
The more I did this program, the calmer I became, and the better outlook I had on myself and my life. It became a vital tool in managing my perspective and releasing any pent up energy I was carrying around.
Again, I can only speak for my own experience, but I really can’t recommend this program enough. It absolutely changed my life for the better and so many people in the Bad Yogi Community feel the same way.
