Today, we’re going to talk about Verelle Hydrating Hair Wash and Curl Enhancing Conditioner!
I’ve had the chance to test these products out several times. In fact, I’ve actually had the opportunity to try most of this product line, so we’ll be covering the styling products in the very near future.
This post is going to highlight the pros, cons, and bottom line impressions of both this shampoo and conditioner.
Keep in mind, I can only speak from my experience with my 3a/3b hair. My hope is that this review will be a good guide for all the curly girls out there, but your results may be very different from mine.
Side note: These products were provided at no cost by Verelle, however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Additionally, this page does contain affiliate links, which means if you purchase something using the product links on this page, I may get a small commission. This comes at no extra cost to you and helps keep this site running. Thank you!
Also, I follow the simplified version of the Curly Girl Method most directly derived from the Curly Girl Handbook. This means the only ingredients I look to avoid are sulfates, silicones, and drying alcohols. If you have more ingredients that you look to avoid, it would be a good idea to check the ingredients for yourself before making a purchase.
Verelle Hydrating Sulfate-Free Hairwash
Pros
Cleanliness
The thing that stood out to me the most was how clean this shampoo got my hair! It definitely leveled up from my regular sulfate-free shampoo. It got my hair a lot cleaner without being as harsh as a clarifying shampoo or baking soda rinse.
Ingredients
I don’t comment on ingredients often, but this list is pretty great. There are tons of moisturizing extracts and oils, plus the first ingredient is water, which is always a good sign for a curly hair product. It claims to leave your hair clean but hydrated and I found this to be true.
Scent
As always, the scent is a big thing for me. It’s difficult for me to pinpoint exactly what this scent is, but I think it could best be described as light and fresh. Overall, I enjoyed it.
Results
There’s nothing I love more than a product that does what it says it’s going to do, and this delivers in spades! My hair was squeaky clean but still moisturized.
Cons
Price
At the time of writing, this product is listed at $20, which is above the $15 or less price point I typically shoot for. But I’ve also said in the past I’m willing to spend for products that perform, and for me, this does.
It also helps that I’m at the point where I only wash twice a week, so this bottle should last me a while.
Bottomline
I highly recommend this Verelle shampoo. I think it’s great for any curly girl, but especially if you’re in the mid-to-late stages of the Curly Girl Method and only wash a few times a week.
Even with the added cost, if you’re only washing a couple of days a week, this bottle should last you a while.
It’s also great if you want to have a gentler cleansing shampoo on hand.
Verelle Curl-Enhancing Conditioner
Pros
Moisture
This conditioner was very moisturizing and left me with soft, bouncy curls for days.
A little goes a long way
I use a fraction of this product compared to my regular conditioner. I typically use about a palmful of conditioner, but with this product, I only needed a golfball-sized amount. As a result, I can see this bottle lasting a good while.
Scent
Similar to the shampoo, this conditioner had a light fresh smell that isn’t too overpowering.
Ingredients
Also like the Verelle shampoo, this conditioner is full of good stuff! It’s silicone and drying alcohol-free, and full of moisturizing and scalp-friendly ingredients.
Results
Once again, I love when a product does what it says it will. This one holds up. It’s moisturizing. It has good slip, so it’s easy to detangle. And my hair was soft with great curls when all was said and done.
Cons
Price
Like the shampoo, at the time of writing this conditioner is priced at $20. It’s a good conditioner, and if you’re only washing a couple of times a week or less this twenty bucks should get you far. But if you wash more often or have drier hair, you might be better suited with a more affordable conditioner.
Bottomline
I think this is a great conditioner. A little goes a long way, and my hair felt moisturized and soft. It was easy to detangle and left me with some really great curls!
However, given the price point, it’s probably more ideal for someone deeper into the Curly Girl Method. If you’re newer and your hair still needs a good deal of moisture, you’ll likely blow through this product too quickly for it to be worth it for you.
